A not-for-profit organization with programs and services in Calgary and Medicine Hat. Committed to enhancing the ability of older adults 50+ to live healthy, productive lives with a focus on their mental, physical, social and emotional well-being.

Unison at Kerby Centre offers consultation and referrals on all aspects of senior housing in the Calgary region, including:

• Not-for-profit housing
• Subsidized apartments
• Condo or life lease lodges
• Personal care homes
• Private supportive living
• Designated supportive living
• Care centres

They provide information and long-term support while connecting seniors to the services and resources they need, when they need it.

Offers a fast, effective volunteer delivered set of services that will help address some of the most pressing concerns. Including essential transportation, pet assist, shopping companions and other ways to engage seniors and keep them connected.

Provides services to assist older adults. Services like information, referrals, and support with transportation, government programs, and case management, application assistance for pensions, benefits, transportation, and housing elder abuse intervention and support, caregiver support, group activities and workshops, Commissioner for Oaths, and tax preparation.

1. Caregiver Education and Support Group:
   Access dementia education and resources, explore difficult emotions and strengthen coping and self-care strategies within a group setting. See more details here.

2. Counselling for Caregivers:
   Individual counselling support exploring options, finding solutions, developing coping strategies, identifying strengths, locating information and resources, and promoting healing, resiliency, and self-empowerment. 3. ONLINE Drop-in Discussion Caregiver discussion groups:
   Caregiver Discussions allow caregivers to offer and receive support and exchange strategies based on the shared caregiving experience. Each session will explore topics such as Communication Strategies and Navigating the Healthcare System. A registered social worker from our Caregiver Support Program facilitates this complimentary group—sessions on the second Tuesday of every month from 10:00 to 11:30 am. See more details here.

Promote their well-being by providing group and one-on-one support, increasing community capacity to support caregivers better, and advocating for caregivers. Multiple programs are available.

Find Alberta Memory Cafes near you and enjoy a “dementia-friendly” outing with your loved one.

Licensed social workers facilitate HFC’s Caregiver Support Groups and help caregivers navigate through Alzheimer’s disease while balancing busy lives and competing demands. Groups meet weekly for ten sessions, one hour each. Hilarity for Charity also offers drop-in support groups.

A range of different resources are available to help people living with FTD participate in the lives of their family, friends, and community after diagnosis.

Dementia Talking Point- UK Online Support Forum

This group is for anyone affected by dementia, it is free and available 24h/day.

Provides information, advice and support with any aspect of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

A free online community designed for people living with dementia and those who care for them. Members can post questions about dementia-related issues, offer support, and create public and private groups around specific topics.

Provides a continuous and tailored specialist support community for people who are living with, affected by, or at risk of, a diagnosis of rare or young onset dementia.

Early Onset, Dementia Alberta Foundation, is an Alberta-based foundation that provides support, direction, resources and assistance for persons with dementia, care partners, and family members.

CCECA has services in Cantonese, Mandarin and English and is part of the ‘Way In’ network. They provide information for Chinese older adults and help them access services to enhance their quality of life. They provide information and referrals, assistance with pensions and benefits, arrangement of transportation, assessment and case management, escort and interpretation for appointments, home and hospital visitation, supportive counselling, elder abuse intervention and support, volunteer visiting programs, adult day programs, and social and recreational programming. *An appointment is recommended. Gateway is a collaborative of 80 organizations working to better serve and support newcomers who choose to make Alberta their new home. Gateway serves as a personal guide to help each newcomer through their unique journey, connecting them to a variety of services in their community that are right for them. It offers newcomers one landing place to get the support they need to meet their economic, social, and civic potential.
